Kävlingeån [ ̌cɛ ː vliŋəo ː n] ( also Lödde å) is a river in the southern Swedish province of Skåne County and the historical province Scania. He is next to Helge å å Ronne and one of the three great rivers of the province. The length is about 50 km (by inflow source about 90 km). The catchment area of ​​1203.8 km ². The river flows through the communities Sjöbo Lund, Eslöv and Kävlinge.

River

Coming from Lake Vombsjön the Kävlingeån flows quietly and wide towards the west, passing through the villages Harlösa, Revingeby, Flyinge Gårdstånga. After crossing under the European Route 22 north of the river undergoes Lund a bend in a southwesterly direction. At this point, near the town Lilla Harrie, Swedish troops crossed the river on December 4, 1676, to fight in the Battle of Lund against the Danes. After flowing through the eponymous town Kävlinge, the river flows past Örtofta and Löddeköpinge (which is why he is in this section also called Lödde å ) to open a little later north of Bjärred in the Bay of Lomma. The area in its mouth, is a nature reserve.

Tributaries are the Klingavälsån and Braan. Source river is the Björkaån which feeds the Vombsjön in the northern part of the municipality Sjöbo from the east.
