The Kazakh - British Technical University ( KBTU; Russian Казахстанско - Британский технический университет ) is one of two technical universities in the former Kazakh capital Almaty. Founded as the University in 2001. The founding of the Kazakh -British Technical University goes back to the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who negotiated with the United Kingdom concerning the establishment of such a university. In November 2000, an agreement between the two countries was been made. Since 17 June 2009 at the KBTU is taught according to British standard. The University consists of six faculties.

International relations it maintains mainly to universities in the UK. Among them, the University of Aberdeen and the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen are the University of Glasgow, the University of Dundee and the University of Stirling in Scotland. Also for Sol Bridge International School of Business in Daejeon in South Korea cultivates good contacts.
