Kazlų Rūda

Kazlų Rūda ( German, 18th Century: Koselrode ) is a city in Lithuania, in the region Suvalkija. It has about 7,300 inhabitants and is the seat of the municipality Kazlų Rūda with 14,620 inhabitants.

The city is located in a wooded area.

City

The first known mention of the village dates from the 1737. The foundation of the town is connected with the extraction of Rasenerz ( lit. Rūda ' ore '), smelting and charcoal burning. The first part of the city's name is derived from the personal name Kazla.
