Keflavík ÍF

Keflavík ÍF (short ungmennafélag Keflavik Íþrotta -og ) is an Icelandic football club which plays in the top league in Iceland, the Pepsideild.

History

Keflavík ÍF was founded in 1956 under the name ÍB Keflavík by fusion of the established on September 29, 1929 UMFK Keflavik and was founded on July 12, 1950 KFK Keflavík. In 1994, named the club in Keflavík ÍF.

The association of the approximately 40 kilometers north of the Icelandic capital Reykjavik Keflavik plays in 2,000 -seat Keflavíkurvöllur Stadium. Club colors are blue, white and red.

The island's first league belonged to the club 1958-60, 1963-80, 1982-89 and since 1993. It was the championship in 1964, are 1969, 1971 and 1973 won. Cup Winners' Cup was Keflavík four times, in 1975, 1997, 2004 and 2006. Moreover, IBK was five more times in the cup final. At the European Cup and the UEFA Intertoto Cup, the club took part several times since 1966.
