Kehrdichannichts Lodge

Castle Kehrdichannichts or sweeping up - to - nothing is a former hunting lodge in the Palatinate Forest west of Bad Durkheim ( Rhineland -Palatinate). It belonged to the Leininger Counts.

History

1588 has already been mentioned wildlife management for the forest area near Bad Durkheim. At the same place as the hunting lodge at that time already was probably an older, simpler building, which served the nobility as a base during the hunt and probably not survived the Nine Years' War.

For the high level at which the hunting lodge stands today, the name Kehrdichannichts was first mentioned in 1651, and later adopted for the lock.

In 1707, Count Johann Friedrich von Leiningen build a new wooden hunting lodge. It was a response to the lying in the immediate vicinity of the hunting grounds of the Palatinate; you wanted to watch the area neighbors and define the boundaries clear.

1717 was then begun with the construction of a hunting lodge. Count Johann Friedrich died in February 1722 and did not live to complete. His son, Count Friedrich Magnus let the system complete nor 1722. His relief adorns there is still a stone wall. Castle Kehrdichannichts served the Count until his death in 1756 as a residence during the hunt. His successor, Prince Carl Friedrich Wilhelm, was the next owner. Once introduced into the French Revolution to the Palatinate hunting castle seems to have been burned down in 1793.

The once two -storey building was built in 1816 story under Bavarian rule and served until 1891 as a forester's house. Then it should be torn down, but this was prevented by a private initiative. Instead, it was sold to the winery owner Kommerzienrat Fritz Eckel from Deidesheim. Although the state bought the house in 1917 back again, but it was on lease left to the nephews Eckels again.

Since 1927 Kehrdichannichts is again forester's house; also a restaurant was operated in the building until the end of the 20th century. It is located in an over in 1816 only slightly altered state.

Origin of the name

The name, according to legend, originated as follows: During the hunt, an official said to have come to the Count, to warn him of the grazing area by the French troops. The Earl is said to have dismissed the warning, saying: "Turn you to nothing! "
