Kelenfold (German Krenfeld ) is a neighborhood in the district of Budapest Buda.

History

The name comes Kelenfold likely from the German name Krenfeld (from horseradish, bavarian for horseradish ). This was used in the 18th century. Only since 1847 the district is officially Kelenfold, and will possibly be named after Kelen, a Hungarian chieftain from the 9th century. The streets were created 1967-1983 with prefabricated houses.
