Kellersee

The Kellersee is a lake in the Holstein Switzerland. It is located east of Malente over the Schwentine, is 560 hectares in size, up to 27 m deep and is located about 24 m above sea level. NN. Southeast of the lake is the Eutiner district Fissau.

Management

The Kellersee is managed by the Fisheries rinds. This also operates a small restaurant right on the lake.

Change in the weather

In some parts of the lake, it can lead to dangerous fall winds, especially in the Fissauer bay, because the lake is located at this point between two steep hills at the mouth of the Schwentine. This is due to the glacial history of the area here. This can result in acute distress.

Note for skaters

The area around the mouth of the Schwentine freezes because of the depth of the lake and because of the water movement later than the rest of the lake; as well as the adjoining Moonlight Bay (also called Silent bay ). The thin ice can be fatal (see ice rescue ).
