Kellylee Evans

Kellylee Evans ( born 1975 in Toronto ) is a Canadian soul and jazz singer and songwriter.

Life and work

Kellylee Evans, daughter of Jamaican immigrants who came as young people in talent shows and sang in youth choirs. Early in her career she had a joint appearance with Lonnie Plaxico (2001) while studying law at Carleton University. As of 2002, she wrote her own songs; she won the 2004 second place in the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocals Competition. 2005 their first album, Fight or Flight, was created, inter alia, to the the pianist George Colligan worked with them and for which they wrote their own songs. The album was nominated for a Gemini and Juno Award. The singer has also been awarded the Canadian Smooth Jazz Award as best singer. Four years later, their second album, The Good Girl was released. Your arisen for the French label Loin Music with sidemen such as François André Ceccarelli Moutin and third album Nina was a tribute to Nina Simone. 2011, this album was nominated for the Juno Award.

Since 2005, Evans appears regularly on Canadian television and radio, including in an episode of the sitcom Getting Along Famously.
