The mouth of the Kelsterbach in the Main

The Kelsterbach (also called Kelsterbach ) is a good five kilometers (according to other sources, three kilometers ) long, orographic left, geographically southern and eastern tributary of the River Main in the German state of Hesse. The creek originates in the southwest of the city of Frankfurt and ends in the city located southwest of Frankfurt Kelsterbach. The Kelsterbach belongs to the Hydrology ( limnology ) for riverine type of small lowland rivers in a river valley.

Course

The headwaters of the Kelsterbach is located in the Frankfurt district Swan home at the edge belonging to the Frankfurt Green Belt Schwanheimer meadows. From there, the stream runs the distance of about 1.6 kilometers in a westerly and southwesterly direction on the Frankfurt urban area. The source area is located in the extreme west of Frankfurt's city forest, east of Boggy Rohsees. This wetland is located on the northern and western edge of part of the Schwanheimer meadows with the field names Small meadow. The creek is there a system of only temporarily carrying water ditches that serve to drain the meadows. Due to the swampy nature of the terrain, which also seasonally dry during part of the source of Kelsterbach is not exactly localized. West of the Kleinwiesenhart swathe the Kelsterbach flows along the eastern edge of the Rohsees. The Kelsterbach is in addition to the further east, also flowing from the left to the Main King Bach and the Bach from the murderer fountain, which flows from the right into the king Bach, one of three rivers in Frankfurt's city forest.

After crossing under the highway 40 west the Kelsterbach reached the territory of the district Kelsterbach. It flows through the wetland in the Riedwiese, a short distance parallel to Blackbird path to eventually einzumünden on the northern outskirts of Kelsterbach into the Main.
