Ken-Marti Vaher

Ken -Marti Vaher ( born September 5, 1974 in Tallinn) is an Estonian politician.

Life and Politics

Ken -Marti Vaher laid in 1992 graduated from high school in Tallinn. He studied from 1992 to 1996 Legal Science at the University of Tartu. Early on, he devoted himself to politics. In 1995 he was Speaker of the Constitutional Committee of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). From 1998 he was a speaker at the Estonian Court, whose director he was already a year later.

2001 Vaher member of the newly founded party Res Publica was. In the same year he was appointed General Secretary of the party and was elected Deputy Chairman of Res Publica 2002. 2002/2003 Vaher was a member of the City Council of Tallinn. In 2003 he was elected deputy to the Estonian Parliament.

From April 2003 to March 2005 was Vaher Minister of Justice of the Republic of Estonia in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Juhan Parts.

On March 21, 2005, he said, the Estonian parliament from his distrust. Background was Vahers anti - corruption plan, which provided for a fixed minimum number of officers that should be transferred from the Estonian law enforcement agencies. Also, because of parts ' support for Vahers plan his government broke up three days later.

As of March 2005 Ken -Marti Vaher was again a Member of the Estonian Parliament. He was a member of the Legal Committee. From April 2011 to March 2014 he was Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Estonia.

Private life

Ken -Marti Vaher is married to the administrative staff Kairi Teniste since 2005.
