Kenyatta International Conference Centre

The Kenyatta International Conference Centre ( KICC ) consists of a high-rise building, a so-called amphitheater and a park, in Nairobi, Kenya. Usually only the tower is meant when we speak colloquially of KICC. The tower was about twenty years the tallest building in Kenya, and is now still the second highest building in Nairobi.

Located in the city center of Nairobi on the Harambee Avenue, the Kenyatta International Conference Centre ( KICC ) is considered a landmark in the Kenyan capital. It houses several conference rooms of different sizes and configurations, some with the technical possibilities for TV transmission, Synchronous translation and electronic voting in polls. In the 27th floor there is a revolving restaurant. On the roof there is a viewing platform. The Tower is the only skyscraper in the city has a helipad on the roof.

The KICC has offices in addition to a total of eight rooms of various sizes, which can be used for symposia, conferences, congresses and other events. Some rooms have separate visitors parking on balconies, or can be increased if necessary by movable walls.

History

The Kenyatta International Conference Centre was built from 1966 to 1973 and state-financed by the then young Republic. In 1989 it was sold to the KANU party, at that time the only approved political party entity. In 2003, the KANU was voted out, and the building went back over to the state.

The amphitheater

The amphitheater is located right next to the tower. There stylized a traditional hut, and to the meeting of traditional and modern architecture symbolize. On a total of three galleries around the auditorium around it offers in its inner space for a total of 771 visitors. The room is soundproof insulated against the outside, and equipped with modern audio technology.

The KICC is surrounded by a 7,000 square meter park, on which there is a statue of Kenya's first president, Jomo Kenyatta. The site includes several flower beds, fountains and ornamental ponds. A long line of flagpoles can be flagged at official events.
