Keratolytic
A keratolytic (plural: keratolytic ) is a horn -dissolving agent. The term is derived from the skin substance keratin.
Keratolytics cosmetically and for the treatment of pathological keratinization disorders ( hyperkeratosis ) are used to force this way the keratolysis.
The following keratolytic agents are known:
- Retinoids: acitretin, adapalene, tretinoin, isotretinoin, Motretinid, tazarotene.
- Salicylic acid
- Azelaic acid
- Called alpha-hydroxy acids, also called " fruit acids ". These include lactic acid, mandelic acid and the glycolic acid.
- Benzoyl peroxide
- Urea ( Urea )
Systemic come for the purpose of keratolysis only acitretin and isotretinoin for use.
