Ketino Kachiani

Ketino Kachiani - Gersinska (Georgian ქეთინო კახიანი - გერშინსკა; born September 11, 1971 in Mestia ) is a native of Georgia German chess player. She twice won the World Junior Championships U20 Girls, 1989 and 1990, and is considered along with Elisabeth Pähtz than currently strongest German chess player.

Time in Georgia

The chess games she learned at the age of 5 years. In 1986, she won the USSR Championship U16 female youth. In the same year she won at the World Youth Championship in Argentina U16 2nd Place 1987 she won the individual championship of the Georgian SSR. In 1989 she was in Colombia U20 Youth World Champion, a year later she repeated this success in Chile.

In 1990 she won the Interzonal in Azov and thus qualified for the Candidates Tournament. For these achievements, she received the International Chess Federation FIDE the title of Grand Master of the women. From 1992 to 2009 she played seven times at the European Team Championships for Women ( first for Georgia, and later for Germany ).

Time in Germany

1993 moved Kachiani to Germany. In 1994 she participated in the German citizenship and was thus eligible to play for the German national team.

Since then she has played with the clubs of St. Ingbert, Werder Bremen and TV Tegernsee in the men's Bundesliga and with the Karlsruhe and Baden- Oos SF (now OSG Baden -Baden ) in the women's Bundesliga. With Baden- Oos she won in 2003, 2004 and 2005, the German team championship of women.

In 1995, she was second in the Interzonal and took part in the 1997 Candidates Tournament. In the same year she was awarded the title of International Master of men.

In 2001 she achieved the best result on first board at the European Team Championship. In 2004 she reached the quarterfinals, where she defeated Ekaterina Kovalevskaya at the individual World Championship in Elista. 1998 in Elista and 2006 in Turin she won for the German team at the Chess Olympiads each with 8.5 points from 12 games, an excellent result. Overall, she played from 1994 to 2008 eight times for Germany.

Your current Elo rating is 2309 (as of May 2011). Last among the top 20 in the Women's World Ranking she was in the FIDE list of October 2002.

Private

Kachiani graduated from the University of Tbilisi study of journalism and graduated in 1993 with a diploma. Since 1993 she has been married to Jürgen Gersinska, the former chairman of the chess club OSG Baden -Baden. She has two sons ( born 1995 and 2003) and now lives in Muggensturm.
