Kett's Rebellion

Robert Ket, Robert Kett, († December 7, 1549 in Norwich) was the leader of a peasant uprising ( Kett 's Rebellion, Norfolk rebellion ) in the 16th century in England.

Ket was a professional and Gerber had with his brother William land in Wymondham, in the county of Norfolk. In the summer of 1549, there were riots between farmers from Wymondham and a landlord, it was about enclosures from the possession of a dissolved monastery. The riot has quickly expanded to about 16 000 people from Ket had joined spontaneously and became their leader. First, the insurgents formulated a complaint in which it, inter alia, Fishing rights and a limitation of the enclosures requested. When this was not granted, Ket also rejected a royal amnesty offer, on August 1, 1549 he occupied with his troops Norwich. In the subsequent armed conflict, the troops of John Dudley, Earl of Warwick Kets destroyed forces in Dussindale. Robert Ket and his brother were arrested and later executed.
