Kh-58

The Ch -58 ( GRAU index designation of the Russian armed forces) is a Soviet air -to-ground missile for the suppression of enemy air defense and the control of ground-based radars with the NATO designation AS -11 ' Kilter.

Development

The development began in the early 1970s in the state Raduga design bureau. The system was introduced in 1984 with the Russian Air Force.

Function

Your seeker locks onto the frequency of the opponent's radar and uses them to meet the radar position. The AS -11 is the Russian counterpart to the American AGM -88 HARM.

  • Ch -58: 1 standard version. Reach 50 km
  • Ch- 58U: 2nd version with improved electronics, range 100 km
  • Ch- 58E: version to combat the MIM -104 Patriot, range 120 km
  • Ch- 58USchKE: variant with folding wings for use in the weapons bay of the Sukhoi T-50, introduced in 2012, range 76-245 km
  • Ch- 58A: with active radar seeker head in the Ku- band range 120-180 km
