Khadija bint Khuwaylid
Khadijah bint Chuwailid (Arabic خديجة بنت خويلد, DMG Ḫadīǧa bint Ḫuwaylid ) (c. 555, † 619 ) was the first wife of Muhammad and the only one with whom he lived in monogamy.
Life
Khadijah was heir to a caravanserai and a trading business in Mecca and daughter of Chuwailid from the tribe of Quraish. She was a widow and married twice before her marriage to Muhammad. From this marriage they had several children. As an entrepreneur and agent, she possessed freely about their rich assets. Muhammad led on their behalf a caravan to Syria, and was a partaker in their stores. His commercial success and his high reputation in Mecca contributed to the fact that they eventually offered him marriage. About advertising and wedding there are a vivid account of al - Bayhaqi from the 11th century. Khadija had at least five children with Mohammed. "Whenever Muhammad met with rejection and foul slander and was sad about it, God made it forget it for her as soon as he came to her home, as she reaffirmed and strengthened him, believed in him and reassured him about the behavior of people. "
Only after her death in 619 was a Mohammed more marriages. But Khadijah was the only wife of Muhammad, who bore him children. ( A son with the Copt Mary died in infancy. ) Like the other wives she is considered one of the " mothers of the believers."
