Since the late 15th century Oirat were repeatedly displaced by the Mongols, as the most aggressive tribe coalesce out of the Khalka after about 1580. The Oirat were living along the Irtysh and the Altai scattered and were very fragmented, so that some leaders temporarily had to submit their neighbors ( Mongolians, Kazakhs, Russians ), or at least sought support from them. After another unsuccessful struggles of Altan Khan could be 1628/9 finally defeated, and part of the Oirat returned to the Dschungarei.

The success, however, was only apparent, because in spite of the threat of Khalka came the Oirat 1625-30 in a serious tribal conflict. Your titular head Baibagas, the Tayishi the Khoshuud was attacked by his brother Chokur in a dispute over inheritance and defeated. The other leaders, especially Dalay - Bagatur († 1637 ) from the Dörböd and Khara Khula attempted to mediate in the interests of unity, but had no success. Ultimately, the resolution of the Oirat Confederation continued and Khara- Khulas son and successor Khungtaidschi Batur (r. 1634-1653 ) had on Imil 1640 or in the Seven Rivers country a new state form.
