Khenemetneferhedjet

Chenmet - nefer - hedjet ( HNMT - nfr - HDT = The united with the White Crown) was an ancient Egyptian title that was worn by queens, but also of princesses. It is witnessed by the middle of the 12th dynasty, to the beginning of the 18th Dynasty. The exact meaning of the title is controversial.

Especially in the 12th Dynasty, there are some evidences of the term, which is not entirely clear whether Chenmet - nefer - hedjet was used as a proper name or title. From the time of Sesostris II and Sesostris III. Amenemhet III to. there are at least four royal women who are referred to as Chenmet - nefer - hedjet. Two of them date under Sesostris III. , One of them still as Weret ( the elder) and the other as Chered (the child ) is called, which suggests that the latter epithets them were awarded to them each of the other women to distinguish the same name.

Under Amenemhat III. is the queen Aat testified, which is also referred to as Chenmet - nefer - hedjet while still occupied without adding another Chenmet - nefer - hedjet. Again, could guess that Aat ( Chenmet - nefer - hedjet - aat means Chenmet - nefer - hedjet = the elder) was just a suffix to distinguish these two queens name. However, this interpretation does not follow all Egyptologists. You see in Weret or Aat the proper names and in Chenmet - nefer - hedjet a title.

In the following the Second Intermediate Period and early New Kingdom represents Chenmet - nefer - hedjet but certainly a title is, with probably a special attachment to the king should be expressed.
