Killiecrankie

Killiecrankie ( schott Gael. Coille Chneagaidh ) is a village in Perth and Kinross, Scotland on the River Garry. It lies at the Pass of Killiecrankie on the A9. In the village there is a power plant of the Tummel Hydro-Electric Power Scheme. A large part of the bank is owned by the National Trust for Scotland.

During 1689, the Battle of Killiecrankie Jakobiteraufstands was fought at the northern edge of the village. Donald MacBean, who for the side of William III. ( Orange ) fought, lost the battle and is said to have crossed the river to The Soldier 's Leap.
