Kimbra

Kimbra (born 27 March 1990 in Hamilton; Complete name Kimbra Johnson) is a New Zealand singer- songwriter. Stylistically vary their songs from Soul to Alternative Rock and Jazz.

Life and work

Kimbra was born in Hamilton in New Zealand and spent much of her childhood. She attended Hillcrest High School, where she attended the prestigious New Zealand school band competition Smoke free rock quest to second place in 2004. With ten years of Kimbra wrote her first songs at age twelve she got from her father Ken a guitar as a present. Their first music video titled Smile she put in the children's television show What Now? the TV channel Juice TV before and was awarded the prize for the best newcomer video. After the release of the second single Simply on My Lips ( 2007), the Australian producer Mark Richardson of the newly founded label Forum 5 in Melbourne became their manager. From it Kimbra borrowed their first looper with which they experimented with their live shows and in the studio. On June 7, 2011 Kimbra signed to Warner Bros. Records New Zealand a record contract with a global sales of their singles and albums option by the Warner Music Group.

In July 2011 she took with the Australian multi-instrumentalist Gotye on the song Somebody That I Used to Know, reaching # 1 in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, Austria and in several other European countries. End of August 2011 they released their debut album Vows in New Zealand in early September in Australia, and in July 2012 in Germany.
