Kingdom Centre

The Kingdom Centre (Arabic: برج المملك ) is a skyscraper in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, which was built between 1999 and 2002. He is the property of the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud.

General

The Kingdom Centre was built from the beginning as a landmark Riyadh and Saudi Arabia. It is 302 m high and has four separate inputs: in the hotel, in the office and apartment buildings in the hotel annex and in the mall. The tower was built in a linear neighborhood of the Al Faisaliyah Center, another skyscraper in Riyadh, for about € 385 million ( SR 1.7 billion ) and serves as a new meeting place for young and old. There are 45 elevators, 22 escalators and 3,000 parking spaces for the public.

Architecture / Building Data

After three years and hundreds of designs, the present design for the modern building with the characteristic semicircular opening and the 65 m long steel bridge was clear. This bridge with its diagonal bracing in the windows, the floor of the visitor complex dar. The cavity above the last floor and the left and right of the opening is completely thwarted by steel struts. From the conference room of the restaurant on the top floor this very bracing and the bridge can be seen through the skylight. At night the blue glazed facade and the aluminum framed "hole" illuminated with different colors. All of this was designed by Ellerbe Becket & Omrania and is located on a square, 94,000 m² large area.

The streets of the " Orouba Street ", " Olaya Street " and "King Fahad Road " framed complex offers a total floor space of about 300,000 sqm. The actual tower is surrounded to the west from the hotel outbuildings and gardens, to the east by the shopping center and the parking and the north and south of area planted with palm trees Hofeingängen.

Each of the 41 floors of the tower has a floor area of 2,225 m²; Kingdom Centre is composed of 230,000 cubic meters of concrete, 85,000 m² of wall area and 670,000 cubic meters of stone.

Awards

The Kingdom Centre is the tallest building in Saudi Arabia since its completion in 2002. It is also the tallest skyscraper in the world with less than 50 floors. 2002 was due to its impressive architecture the " Emporis Skyscraper Award 2002 " (then Skyscraper.com Award) as the best building in the category " best new skyscraper of the year in design and function ." 2003 " Innovative design and construction of a new project " award in the category of the Al- Mamlaka shopping center by the "International Council of Shopping Centers ( ICSC ) " of the " International Design and Development Award".

Use

Four Seasons Hotel

This 5 -star hotel with its 193 rooms and 52 suites, offers every imaginable comfort. The hotel rooms are situated inside the Towers, the other services such as the four restaurants ( " Seasons ", " Quattro ", " Tea Lounge " and " The Grill " ), hot tubs, the 3,429 m² fitness center " Health Club", saunas, spa areas, steam rooms, outdoor swimming pools, squash court, courts, racquetball court, outdoor tennis courts and 7247 m² of meeting space are housed in the Tower semicircular hotel annexe left. Furthermore, there are in addition to building a large wedding or ball hall with 4,400 m² for 3,000 persons with attached luxury suite for VIP guests or the wedding party.

Al- Mamlaka shopping center

The east of the tower location and also semicircular annexe of the shopping center " Al- Mamlaka " comprises 161 shops on four floors; it is the most prestigious shopping centers in the city:

  • First Floor ( 1st floor) 37 shops
  • Ladies Floor ( ar: Mamlakat el mar'ah ) (DE: Kingdom of the women) (2nd floor ) 40 shops exclusively for female customers

Tower

The center of the complex is the 302 m high tower. There are offices with separate parking for employees and 40 luxury apartment homes in him. These are on the upper floors.
