Kingdom of Garo

The Kingdom of Garo (also under the name of his royal house, Bosha known) was a kingdom of the Sidama on the edge of the Gibe region of Ethiopia.

Garo had clearly defined boundaries: on the north by Janjero, to the east by the Omo River and the south by the Gojeb, which divided the Kingdom of Kaffa. Since a significant limitation in the West lacked the subjects of the Kingdom had a number of moats and gates erected to protect themselves by the Oromo from the Kingdom of Jimma from attacks.

Werner Lange discussed the possibility that Garo is - just been a minor part Ennareas as Ennarea was a part of the Kingdom Damot. The reign Yeshaq I. to Garo had split from Ennarea and was a dependent of Ethiopia State. Maybe it involves the in the travel diaries of Zorzi mentioned " Bosge ". In the 16th century the Emperor Sarsa Denge convinced the king to Christianity willingly accept. Until the 17th century Ethiopia had lost all contact with that State. Its history in this century is largely in the dark. However, it is to be assumed that was the end of the century, remained a relatively small isolated area in the height of the mountain forest May Gudo by the migration of the Oromo in the Gibe region that has been increasingly constricted Bosha Kingdom until finally.

Garo remained independent until the end of Jimma Abba Gomo the last isolated parts of this kingdom conquered. When the Emperor Haile Selassie annexed Jimma, lived a descendant of Dagoye, the last king Garos, as good as relegated to Jiren.
