Kington Tramway

The Kington Tramway was a British horse railway company in Herefordshire in England.

The Company received on 23 May 1818, the concession for a horse-drawn tram from the limestone quarries at Burlinjob to Hay Railway at Eardisley. The 22.5 km long track with a track gauge of 1067 mm was opened on 1 May 1820 by Eardisley to Kington and on 7 August 1820 to Burlinjob. Funding was provided inter alia by the engineer James Watt and the ironmonger John Meredith from Hereford. The railway speculator Thomas Savin, the Company purchased and used on some sections of the track bed for the erected by him Kington and Eardisley Railway.
