Kinski (Band)

Kinski is an American rock band from Seattle. Their sound is instrumental over long distances and can be attributed to the noise rock. Similar artists Sonic Youth, Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age.

History

The establishment of Kinski in 1998 supposedly goes back to a pub discussion between Chris Martin and Lucy Atkinson, whether analog or digital is the better recording method. In this dispute, the bartender Dave Weeks interjected, who became the drummer of the group later. During the conversation it turned out that all shared a similar taste in music and they decided to form a band.

1999 came Mattew Reid Schwartz about the band, which dominates in addition to his guitar and keyboard and flute. In the same year the debut album Space Launch For Frenchie, which was sold in-house appeared. Published in 2001 under the label Kinski Pacifico their second album, Be Gentle With The Warm Turtle. This was followed in 2002 and 2003 with the EP semaphore Airs Above Your Station 's third studio album, released in addition to a split with Acid Mothers Temple under the well known Seattle label Sub Pop.

After completion of the recording of this album Dave Weeks left the group and was replaced on drums by Barrett Wilke.

Followed in 2004 with Crickets and Fireflies another split release with the bands Paik and Surface of Eceon, and the fourth album Do not Climb on and Take the Holy Water.

2005 appeared with Alpine Static 's fifth studio album, which attracted the attention of Maynard James Keenan on to the Kinski then invited the 10,000 Days tour of tool to open 2007 as the opening act while.

The last album to date, Cosy Moments, was published in 2013.
