Kintzing Prichette

Kintzing Prichette (* June 24, 1800 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † unknown ) was an American politician and in 1850 briefly Territorial Governor in Oregon Territory.

Not much is known about Kintzing Prichette. He was born in 1800 in Philadelphia and was according to some sources, the last Secretary of State in Michigan Territory, although he is not even mentioned in many sources over this territory. In 1849 he was appointed by President James K. Polk State Secretary at the Oregon Territory. After the resignation of Territorial Governor Joseph Lane, he had to pass the time until the arrival of the new Territorial Governor John Pollard Gaines. Prichette was between 9 April 1849, the Secretary of State September 18, 1850 in Oregon. At trial against the Indian accused in the Whitman Massacre Prichette took over the unsuccessful defense of the accused. About Prichette today is hardly anything known. There are few facts about him. After his time in Oregon, he was probably active in the Fiji Islands.
