Kiosk (Band)

Kiosk ( کیوسک ) is an Iranian blues rock band. The musicians live since 2006 in the USA. Kiosk plays a mix of blues, modern rock music and traditional Iranian music. The lyrics were written by the singer Arash Sobhani, deal with the everyday life in Iran and have partially socially motivated.

History

Kiosk was founded in the 1990s in Tehran. The band's name refers to the makeshift music studio in private homes in Iran, where underground bands recorded their music and the kiosk were called. The first line-up consisted of singer Arash Sobhani, Anoush Khazeni and guitarist Babak Khiavchi, bassist Ali Kamali, keyboardist Ardalan Payvar, drummer and backing vocalist Shahrouz Molaei Mardjan K. The first few years the band spent underground, the musicians migrated to part from from Iran. Therefore, the recording of the debut album " Adam -e Ma'mooli " were lengthy and difficult. It was recorded in home studios at various locations inside and outside of Iran. and finally the end of 2005 published by the Canadian independent label Bamahang Productions. The album was the first official release of an Iranian rock band outside of Iran.

The musicians emigrated to the USA in 2006 and published in 2007, their second album " Eshgh -e Sor'at ". The director for the music video of the title song led Ahmad Kiarostami, Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami son. Both the debut and the second album were among the best-selling albums in the online market, the music video recorded more than 250,000 hits on youtube. Singer Arash Sobhani 2007 took part in a conference organized by Brandeis University and Harvard University panel discussion, during which the band played their first concert on the east coast of the United States. The World Academy of Arts, Literature, and Media, the band recorded 2008 as the best blues band. A recording of a performance at Yoshi 's Jazz Club in San Francisco in July 2010, was released in October 2010 as the live album Triple Distilled: Live at Yoshi's. In autumn 2011 the fourth studio album Natijeh -e Mozakerat ( Outcome of Negotiations ) and appeared on February 1, 2013, the fifth album Tashkilate Movazi (parallel establishment ).
