Kipkoech Cheruiyot

Kipkoech Cheruiyot ( born December 2, 1964) is a former Kenyan middle distance runner who had his greatest successes in the 1500 -meter distance.

In 1982 he won at the Africa Athletics Championships in Cairo Gold, beating Saïd Aouita. The following year he presented on 26 July in Munich with 3:34,92 min a junior world record, which was only twelve years later improved by Daniel Komen.

At the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki and at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he was eliminated in the flow. In 1987 he finished eleventh at the World Championships in Rome, 1988 VII at the Olympic Games in Seoul, and in 1989 he won gold at the Universiade.

His twin brother Charles Cheruiyot was a successful long distance runner.
