Kit West
Kit West is a special effects artist for Raiders of the Lost Ark the Oscar for Best Visual Effects was awarded in 1982.
Life
He went to King's College in London. He then worked as a camera assistant at Realist Film Unit, a company for military documentaries. After two years in the army, he worked again with Realist Film Unit, but as TV advertising. From 1963, he worked first in the special effects on films such as The Kiss of the Vampire, bandits on the moon and Inspector Clouseau, the "best" man at Interpol.
In 1982 he received during his first collaboration with Steven Spielberg for Raiders of the Lost Ark the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. He received two additional nominations in 1986 for The Young Sherlock Holmes and 1997 for Dragonheart, where he was active in those countries as a VFX supervisor.
