Kitami Observatory

The Kitami Observatory (Japanese北 见 天文台, Kitami temmondai, English Kitami Observatory, . Observatory code 400) is an observatory in Kitami, sub-prefecture of Okhotsk in Hokkaido, Japan. It is part of the cultural center for the region Kitami - Abashiri (北網 圏 北見 文化 センター, Hokumōken Kitami bunka Senta, " Cultural North Abashiri Kitami ," engl. Kitami Region Museum of Science, History and Art ), at the same time the only planetarium houses in eastern Hokkaido.

The amateur astronomers Atsushi Takahashi and Kazuo Watanabe have discovered from here a number of asteroids.
