Kitty Coleman Beach Provincial Park
The Kitty Coleman Beach Provincial Park is a 10 hectare Provincial Park in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is located 8 kilometers north of Courtenay and is located just off of Highway 19 ( Highway Iceland ). The park is located in the Comox Valley Regional District.
Plant
The extremely small and very easy -appointed park is located on the Strait of Georgia on the east coast of Vancouver Iceland, south of the mouth of the Oyster River.
In the park is a protected area category II (National Park).
There is a park in the category Class C, it is not managed deviating from the other provincial parks in British Columbia from the park headquarters BC parks, but by a private operator manages.
History
The park was established in 1944 and was named after Kitty Coleman. She was a member of a local First Nation and left early 20th century, their tribe to marry a white man. After his imprisonment later successful she lived alone on this beach.
Flora and Fauna
In the southern parking area there is a very old and large Douglas fir. Furthermore, in the park grow wild onions.
Activities
The park offers beach access and picnic area. In addition, there are 65 tent pitches, and a very simple plumbing system. In addition, the park offers a Sliprampe for water sports.
