Kiyohara no Fukayabu

Kiyohara no Fukayabu (Japanese清 原 深 养父) was a Japanese waka poet of the middle Heian period ( 9-10. Century).

Life

He was the grandfather of Kiyohara no Motosuke and great-grandfather of Sei Shonagon, the author of the famous pillow book. Although he served in the course of his life at a more modest position of various imperial offices, as a poet, he made a name for himself: his 17 Waka are in the Kokin - Wakashū included, one in Hyakunin Isshu. He is one of the " 36 Immortals poetry of the Middle Ages " (中古 三 十六 歌仙, Chuko sanjūrokkasen ).

His skill in Kin game is also narrated how his contact with historical figures such as Fujiwara no Kanesuke, Ki no Tsurayuki or Ōshikōchi no Mitsune. At the age he lived a secluded life in a Buddhist temple called Fudaraku -ji.

His collected works, the Fukayabu shū (深 养父 集, dt " collection of Fukayabu " ) have been preserved as part of the House Anthology of Kiyohara.
