In May, he took the name Kiyokuni Katsuo, joined in March 1965 back to Kiyokuni Tadao and in November 1967 back to the name Kiyokuni Katsuo. He hovered in the years between the lower and the upper ranks sanyaku maegashira positions until he found his form from about 1968 and in July 1969 even reached its ( single ) tournament victory. Then he was appointed Ozeki and could hold that title until his retirement in late 1974. In total, he completed 62 tournaments in the Makuuchi and won three awards for special achievement ( Shukun -Sho ) and four technicians prices ( Gino -Sho ). Following his wrestlers career, he took over in 1977 his old Ringer stable than Oyakata ( equerry ) and was elected in 1978 in the director board of the Sumōverbands.

In September 2004, the news magazine Shukan Post has referred to him as it reported on alleged doping and prearranged fights. The association stated that an investigation had not confirmed the claims of the magazine. Isegahama Oyakata, who had also referred in the magazine today's Japanese wrestler as "a bunch of sissies ," his directorship was relieved.
