Klaus von Storch

Klaus Bernhard von Storch Krüger ( born February 20, 1962 in Osorno, Chile ) is a former officer of the Chilean Air Force, aerospace engineer and astronaut candidate.

Von Storch was a fighter pilot in the Chilean Air Force.

In 1992 was selected by Stork of the Chilean Space Agency Agencia Chilena del Espacio and three other candidates as astronaut candidate. In the late 1990s, he contributed to the scientific care of several space shuttle flights. In 2002 was selected by Stork for the first space flight with Chilean participation. The crash of the space shuttle Columbia in February 2003, the plans were not realized.

The Chilean Space Agency turned to Russia to get a seat aboard a Soyuz spacecraft. During a visit by Russian President Putin in Chile an agreement was signed in 2004. In contrast to the Brazilian Marcos Pontes, who was in a similar situation and was able to start in March 2006 with Soyuz TMA -8, but was not divided by Stork for a flight.

Von Storch is vice president of the nonprofit organization Astro Chile.

He is head of the group Angelicum Chile, which participates in the Google Lunar X-Prize.

Von Storch is married and has two children.
