Klaus Village is a neighborhood of the city Schwentinental in Schleswig -Holstein. Until 29 February 2008 Klaus was a municipality and village.
Geography and transport
Klaus village is situated on the national highway 76, highway 52 L and the river Schwentine, bordering the city of Kiel parts Wellingdorf and Elmschenhagen, the Schwentine Taler Raisdorf district and the community Schoenkirchen.
History
Klaus village was founded by Preetz monastery and in 1224 first mentioned as Vruwenhuthe. 1233 was the place the name Nicolaustorp because there a chapel in honor of St. Nicholas was built.
Resolution of the municipality
On 1 March 2008 was formed by the merger of the official free communities Klaus village and Raisdorf the new community Schwentinental.
School
In the district, the Astrid Lindgren Elementary School is located. Until the 1990s, a secondary school was housed there. A former part of the school is used as a self-governing youth center since 1984.
