Kleiner Rummelsberg

The Little Rummelsberg is a 81 -meter-high hill east of the village Brodowin in the municipality of Chorin Brandenburg Barnim district. The hill is the most important vantage point in space Brodowiner landscape and offers an unobstructed view in all directions. The neighboring Great Rummelsberg is approximately one meter higher but inaccessible. Occasionally both hill under Rummelsberg are summarized. With its rare continental dry grasslands of the Little Rummelsberg is under protection. It is controversial whether it is in the mountain is a drumlin.

Drumlinfrage

The Little Rummelsberg lies directly on the eastern shore of the lake and nature exceeds its water surface by 38 meters. At least until the High Middle Ages formed the now isolated Wesensee a bay of Lake Parsteiner.

The hill in the Biosphere Reserve Schorfheide -Chorin is geologically interesting in terms of the controversial and open question whether there is a drumlin. Drumlins are elongated hills of drop-shaped floor plan, whose longitudinal axis is located in the former Eisbewegungsrichtung a ( glacial ) glacier and were formed under an actively moving glacier. The Little Rummelsberg and other similarly shaped hills in its neighborhood belong to the back country of the Endmoränenbogens Chorin south of the extended Parsteiner lake, a Zungenbeckensee of Parsteiner lobe. The geological conditions for the emergence of a "real" Drumlin are given. At the foot of the mountain the information board of the Lower Nature Conservation Agency of Brandenburg explains:

In spite of this reversal is the question whether it is indeed a drumlin and whether there are drumlins in Brandenburg, controversial among geologists. "If we stand on the small Rummelsberg, we can in the area even more to see such structures, and it is then an excellent argument about possible whether it is a drumlin, a camera or an Os at this or that. " Maybe it is simply a " normal" hill within the ground moraine without any specific geomorphological. A clarification could alone provide holes that have so far been carried out neither by the Little Rummelsberg other alleged drumlins as the Rosi mountain on the western shore of the lake Parsteiner.

Flora

Under Conservation of Small Rummelsberg is because of its rich soil flora with a continental dry grasslands, the " as Western [r ] foothills of Steppenvegegation hold " due to the exposed position of the hill could.

Among this particular vegetation flat-growing and dry soils preferring plant as the Siberian Bellflower (Campanula sibirica ), the snake head - hawkweed ( Hieracium echioides ), of the genus halbschmarotzender Wachtelweizen the Field Cow- wheat ( Melampyrum arvense), also the spiked blue loosestrife ( Pseudolysimachion spicatum (L.) Opiz = Veronica spicata ) and the herbaceous gold thistle ( Carlina vulgaris).

Other representatives of the soil fauna are the esparto grass ( Stipa L.) up to a square meter carpet of sand thyme (Thymus serpyllum ), the evergreen Common (Prunella vulgaris), as ornaments of the mountains ( oros = mountain and Ganos = jewelry, gloss) the spice oregano or the Common oregano (Origanum vulgare ) and the meadow Clary (Salvia pratensis), which is particularly attracts bumblebees.
