The Little Winterberg is a 837 m above sea level. NN high side of the knoll located in the neighboring Lower Saxony worm mountain in the Harz mountain range ( Upper Harz ) in the city of Wernigerode in the Harz district, Saxony- Anhalt.

Geographical location

The Little Winterberg is located in the Harz Nature Park / Saxony- Anhalt, just east of the border with Lower Saxony and about 2.2 km southwest of the village belonging to Wernigerode Schierke. Northeast rises beyond the situated on the Cold Bode Schierke the Hohnekamm ( 900.6 m; Hohneklippen with ). In the southeast derives its landscape to Barenberg over ( 695.5 m ) to the south it falls in the Valley of the Bremke that ( 971.2 m) rises in the transition region to the west and located beyond the border Worm Mountain. Northwest joins the Great Winterberg ( 906.4 m) and beyond the Brocken ( 1141.1 m).

Winter sports area

As part of the in the planning concept worm mountain in 2015 is to be built in the area between Great and Small Winterberg and worm mountain towards the village Schierke a ski lift or gondola with four new departures.
