Klöden is a district of the city Jessen ( Elster) in Wittenberg district in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). Prior to January 1, 2011 Klöden was an independent municipality, which belonged to the administrative community Elbaue -flaming.

Geography

Klöden is about 12 km west of Jessen on the Elbe. As a part of the community is recognized: Rettig.

History

965 the village was first mentioned.

On July 21, 981 Otto II gave the place which at the time was in Gau Nizizi in the county Diemars, together with the monastery Pretzschendorf Memleben.

Until 1439 the castle was owned Klöden Apel Vitzthum of the elders, who played an important role as "bad advice " Duke William of Saxony and Jointly the so-called Saxon Brother War ( 1446-1451 ). Flag

The Klöden castle is run by a club. The evangelical church to Holy Cross has been handed down as a place of pilgrimage since medieval times.
