Location of Klöden in Saxony-Anhalt

Klöden is a district of the city Jessen ( Elster) in Wittenberg district in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). Prior to January 1, 2011 Klöden was an independent municipality, which belonged to the administrative community Elbaue -flaming.

Geography

Klöden is about 12 km west of Jessen on the Elbe. As a part of the community is recognized: Rettig.

History

965 the village was first mentioned.

On July 21, 981 Otto II gave the place which at the time was in Gau Nizizi in the county Diemars, together with the monastery Pretzschendorf Memleben.

Until 1439 the castle was owned Klöden Apel Vitzthum of the elders, who played an important role as "bad advice " Duke William of Saxony and Jointly the so-called Saxon Brother War ( 1446-1451 ). After that, the castle came in exchange for light woods ( near Chemnitz ) to the meißnische noble family of HONSBERG that should be kept there for several decades.

In 1935, the local name of Clöden in Klöden was converted.

On 1 May 1974, the municipality Schützberg was incorporated. On March 15, 1990 Schützberg was spun off and back on their own.

The coat of arms that leads Klöden even after the incorporation as a symbol of local self- representation, in 1995 designed by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch and out into the approval process. Flag

Klöden performs a two-lane flag of which the first ( mast -side ) stripes blue and the second strips are white. In the striated flag of the upper stripe is blue and the bottom stripe is white. In the center is placed the coat of arms.

Culture and sights

The Klöden castle is run by a club. The evangelical church to Holy Cross has been handed down as a place of pilgrimage since medieval times.
