History

Matthias Klotz ( I) ( 1653-1743 ) is considered the founder of violin making in Mittenwald. Matthias was the second child of the tailor Urban Klotz ( Vrbanus Cloz, 1627-1691 ) and his wife Sophia (d. 1681).
