Ko Phai

Ko Phai ( Thai: เกาะ ไผ่ ) is the largest island in Mu Ko Phai ( Thai: หมู่ เกาะ ไผ่ ), a small uninhabited archipelago belonging to the East Coast Islands of Thailand. The island belongs to the district of Amphoe Bang Lamung Chonburi province.

Geography

The island is located about 21 kilometers west of Pattaya or at the southeast end of the Bay of Bangkok in the Gulf of Thailand. It is often referred to as "Bamboo Iceland ".

The maximum extent of the island of Ko Phai is about four kilometers, its maximum width is approximately 1.5 km. Ko Phai is a quiet, rugged, forested island with steep cliffs. The highest elevation of the island is 150 m. At the center of the island is a lighthouse.
