Kobe Luminarie

Kobe Luminarie (Japanese神戸 ルミナリエ, Kobe Ruminarie, from Italian for " fairy lights ") is a festival of lights in Kobe, Japan.

It is held every December since 1995. With the Kobe Luminarie is regularly reminded of the earthquake in Kobe in 1995 and be grieved for the victims. Meanwhile, it has become a winter tradition. The lighting is arranged by the Italian artist Valerio Festi and Hirokazu Imaoka the Japanese. The lights are turned over about two weeks every night for a few hours. About four million people come every year to Kobe, to see this spectacle.

From 1999 to 2005, both people organized a sister festival called Tōkyō Milenario (東京 ミレナリオ, Tōkyō Mirenario ) in Marunouchi, Chiyoda, Tokyo.
