Kobus (antelope)
Uganda Kob (Kobus kob thomasi )
The waterbuck (Kobus ) are a genus of African antelopes, which are most closely related to the reedbuck. They are divided into five types:
- Common waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus )
- White neck Lechwe (Kobus megaceros )
- Lechwe (Kobus leche)
- Kob (Kobus kob )
- Puku (Kobus vardonii )
Kob and Puku were occasionally performed in a separate genus Adenota; Lechwe and white neck - Moorantilope were occasionally performed in a separate genus Onotragus. The Defassa waterbuck, viewed here as a subspecies of Commons waterbuck, one finds often conducted as a separate species.
Only the males have horns. These are 50 cm or longer, and in rare cases up to 1 m. They are easily bent backwards and then set in a turn upward. All species are bound to the life on the water and are found in marshy habitats. They live in herds, their social composition varies depending on the type.
