Kögel Trailer

The Koegel Trailer GmbH & Co.KG located in Burtenbach were originally founded in 1934 by Franz Xaver Koegel and are one of Europe's largest manufacturers of commercial vehicles, including for trailers and semi-trailers.

Insolvency of the corporation and a new beginning

  • 2004 - filed for bankruptcy in January, the Kögel AG in Ulm application to open insolvency proceedings. Affected are approximately 1,200 employees. Later in the year, the acquisition of parts of the former joint-stock company by the trailer Holding GmbH, Munich takes place. Establishment of the " Kögel GmbH". Burtenbach will be the new headquarters. Other parts, such as KAMAG and the plant in Werdau to be sold.
  • 2006 - of successful new beginning: Kögel GmbH manufactures with approximately 1,000 employees, approximately 12,000 vehicles per year. More than two thirds are supplied to other European countries.
  • 2007 - record year: sales EUR 450 million and annual production of 24,000 vehicles. Establishment of the company among the ten largest trailer manufacturers.

Renewed bankruptcy and takeover by Humbaur

  • 2009 - Insolvency: The emerging global economic and financial crisis leads to a noticeable decline in orders Koegel. The production capacity is throttled. On August 3, 2009 Kögel GmbH had to file for insolvency. On 30 October 2009, the insolvency proceedings, the auditor Arndt Geiwitz from Neu-Ulm opened and was appointed as liquidator.
  • 2009 - new start: Koegel is taken over by entrepreneur Ulrich Humbaur from Gersthofen who drives a two - brand strategy to date, thus ensuring the independence of the brand Koegel. It was Trailer GmbH & Co. KG founded under the name Koegel based in Burtenbach a new society. The general partner Koegel Trailer Verwaltungs-GmbH has its headquarters in Gersthofen.
  • 2012 - New competence center " Koegel PurFerro GmbH & Co. KG " Koegel acquires the competence center for sandwich panels in Duingen from that of the European Van Company. The factory was founded in the 1970s in Duingen of the Graaff- wagon and became in no time a sought after supplier of dry freight and refrigerated box manufacturer. Koegel is thus again a manufacturer of truck bodies, has all the skills in-house.

Product portfolio
