Kokkai Futoshi

Kokkai Futoshi (Japanese黒 海 太), Merab Levan actually Zaguria (Georgian ლევან მერაბ ცაგურია; born March 10, 1981 in Sukhumi ) is a retired Georgian sumo wrestler. His fight name ( shikona ) " Kokkai " means " black sea ", alluding to its origin.

Kokkai began in 2001 with the sumo and could in only 16 tournaments to the Makuuchi division fight his way, which he reached in 2004. His promotion to the top division he earned a 14-1 victory in a juryo tournament. This was his fourth tournament victory in the lower divisions. Kokkai was the first European who ever wrestled in the Makuuchi. But it was soon followed by the Russian crude and the Bulgarian Kotooshu. Behind the latter Kokkai remained in terms of performance so far back. In July 2005, he surprised with a win over yokozuna Asashoryu and was awarded for his fighting spirit ( Kanto Shō ). Thereafter, he received the appointment as komusubi first time sanyaku rank. After 43 consecutive tournaments in the top league Kokkai had to descend with an elbow injury and a resulting 3-12 in January 2011; a return to the Makuuchi in September and November of the same year was not to last. This was followed by an embossed injury time, had to get in the Kokkai from the Maiturnier and months could no longer participate in regular training schedule. During the Aki- Basho 2012 Oyakata be informed that Kokkai ended his career because of his poor physical condition. He intended to return to Georgia.

His younger brother was in September 2005 under the name Ringer " Tsukasaumi " active. But he was forced to resign due to injury for some good results.
