Kol Yisrael

Kol Israel (Hebrew קול ישראל, Kol Jisra'el, " The Voice of Israel ") is the public radio institution of Israel.

History

Kol Israel was inaugurated on 14 May 1948 with the reading of the Israeli Declaration of Independence by David Ben Gurion in Tel Aviv. The station took over the facilities of the former Palestine Broadcasting Corporation ( Palestine Broadcasting Service, or PBS), which was founded in 1936 as the official radio of the Palestine mandate.
