Kolari railway

The railway line Tornio - Kolari is a railway line in Finland. She has the Russian track gauge of 1524 mm, has a length of 182.6 km and is not electrified. Owner of the track is the Finnish State. Holdings is the distance from the state railway company VR - Yhtymä.

History

The line was built in stages, 1921-1973.

Operation today

It run on the track only three times a week night trains to and from Helsinki. Trains run every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings on the track and keep the road in Ylitornio and Pello. On the same day these trains run back to Helsinki. These trains do not have the Tornio station, but stayed in the town in its own breakpoint Tornio Itäinen. There are also freight traffic along the entire route. (July 2013)

The speed limit for passenger and freight trains between Tornio and the kilometer 1011.6 80 km / h On the remaining portion to Kolari, speeds up to 100 km / h.
