Kole Čašule

Kole Čašule ( Macedonian Коле Чашуле; born March 2, 1921 in Prilep, † 22 September 2009 in Skopje) was a Yugoslav and Macedonian writer, politician and diplomat.

Life

He went to high school in Prilep and Bitola, and began to Belgrade to study medicine, which he broke off when the Second World War in 1941 reached Yugoslavia. He joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, was arrested after his involvement in an attack on a police station and later freed by partisans. Since the 1940s, he wrote plays, novels and short stories. He was director of Radio Skopje (1946-1947), Director of Drama at Macedonian National Theatre (1947-1950), director of the film company Vardar film and editor of several journals; In 1956, he was Macedonian Minister of Culture. His activities as a diplomat included, among other things, the posting as Yugoslav Ambassador to Bolivia (1962-1965), Brazil and Peru.

He was an honorary member of the Macedonian Academy of Arts and Sciences and has received numerous awards.
