Kole Omotosho

Bankole Omotoso Ajibabi (* 1943 in Akure, Nigeria ) is a Nigerian writer. He became known as a writer of short stories, novellas and novels, as well as a playwright and columnist.

Life

Kole Omotoso studied French and Arabic at the University of Ibadan. He first worked as a teacher and completed postgraduate studies in Edinburgh. From 1972 he was professor of Arabic language and Islamic studies at the University of Ibadan and had more academic teaching activities in Nigeria, Lesotho and Scotland held. Since 1991 he teaches in South Africa, first in Cape Town, then at the University of Stellenbosch.

He was known throughout South Africa through numerous appearances in television commercials. He also served as President of the Nigerian Union of Writers ANA. His first novel he published in 1971; it was followed by many stories, novellas, novels and scientific articles and columns for the magazine West Africa. His work is characterized politically, so led his book Just Before Drawn ( 1988), the Nigerian history after independence to several appeals criticized people.
