Kolos Ferenc Vaszary

Kolos Ferenc Cardinal Vaszary OSB ( born February 12, 1832 in Keszthely, † September 3, 1915 in Balatonfüred ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church and longtime archbishop of Esztergom.

Vaszary joined in 1847 a Benedictine monk and put on 6 June 1854, the profession on. Two years later he was ordained a priest and worked for many years as a teacher at a school. In 1891 he became archbishop of Esztergom, 1893 then Cardinal by Pope Leo XIII.

Vaszary participated in the conclave of 1903 that elected Pope Pius X.. His health deteriorated in November 1912 so, so he asked for his resignation from all offices. This was done in the first weeks of 1913.
