Kolsimcha – The World Quintet

Kolsimcha - The World Quintet is a Swiss klezmer band.

Band History

The band started in 1986 under the name Kol Simcha in Switzerland as a duo with Josef Bollag and David Klein. She was interested in the klezmer, and they played at weddings. The success was so great that they began to give concerts.

Michael Heitzler ( clarinet), Olivier Truan Ariel Zuckermann (flute, before Roman Glaser and Niki Reiser ) ( Piano ), Daniel Fricker ( bass), and Christoph Staudenmann (drums, previously - Over the years the band grew to five musicians Fabian Kuratli (deceased) and David Klein ) - where Josef Bollag has become the band's manager and no longer permitting.

The name Kolsimcha (Col: voice, Simcha: Joy ) is taken from a blessing that one speaks at Jewish weddings. Since the group now mainly plays in concert halls and not at weddings, she called over a long period of time The World Quintet. In spring 2007 the band re- oriented to the original name and is now called " Kolsimcha - The World Quintet".
