Looking for Mückenberg from north

Komáří hůrka ( German Mückenberg ) is one of the highest mountains in the Ore Mountains on the territory of the Czech Republic.

This makes it a distinctive vantage point from which a view in almost all directions is possible. In addition, the typical character of a panel for the Erzgebirge plaice with the steep drop to the south in a clear way is clear from Mückenberg from.

History

The centuries- long history of mining has left an indelible mark on the landscape around the Mückenberg. Under its surface hides numerous old studs, and parts of his Berglehne are littered with pinging. At the instigation of the mountain master David Koith built in 1568 Bohemian miners on the summit of the mountain a mosquito Anläutturm whose chime indicated to them the beginning of the shift and the end. For this tower, the term mosquito turrets came into use in the vernacular.

Following the decline of the mining industry in the 19th century, a tourist restaurant was built in 1857, which integrated the 1568 built Anläuteturm. This highly visible mosquito turrets Krupka ( barley ) and Cínovec developed in the sequel to one of the most popular attractions in the vicinity of the former mining communities ( Bohemian Cínovec ).

In the years 1950 to 1952 was built on the mountain of Bohosudov ( Mariaschein ) from a chairlift to the Swiss system of rolling VR101, which was the longest chairlift in Central Europe at the time of its establishment. Even today, the Swiss license built by the company Transporta Chrudim cable car as the longest valid in the Czech Republic without stopover. It is next to the two sections of the Jennerbahn am Koenigssee currently located in Europe in the last operating system type, Von Roll VR101.

Saga

The name of the mountain is due to an old legend which tells of a poacher who stole chickens and geese in Fojtovice ( Voitsdorf ). Due to his speed he ever managed to escape the angry farmers. When he tried to steal the only cow of an old mother, this raised her divining rod, and cried: "Thou shalt be bitten by mosquitoes before you reach the top of the mountain! " Then indeed appeared a large swarm of mosquitoes that brought the thief to a halt. Since that time, the mountain bears his name.
